My wife and son had made specific requests to keep certain people away from the funeral, because of problems they caused our father while he was alive. We gave them our wants for the obituary, but they changed it to include others, telling us to be "the bigger person", and we allowed it, even though none had shown him any care or affection when he was alive. When it came time to escort our father to his final resting place, the ones that created all the problems for him in life tried to to the position of honor behind the hearse, blocking out the pall bearers and the immediate family that actually cared for him until his passing.
